When we recommend this product

In winter, draughts can account for up to 25% of heat loss (in some homes, it is much more!). Regardless of the level of insulation in your home, if your home is not draught proof, no amount of heating will make it warm. EcoMaster have recorded a 50% reduction in winter heating costs for some of their clients, just by the effective implementation of thorough draught proofing.  In one home in the Macedon Ranges the householders  are saving over $1,400 a year, (as well as being considerably more comfortable).

Thorough and complete draught proofing will always improve the performance of your home in winter.  The degree of improvement is dependent upon the extent of air infiltration before the draught proofing.  Therefore, the worse your home is now, the greater the improvement. In summer, uncontrolled ventilation allows your warm air to escape in winter and hot air to come in during summer.  Draught proofing will give you control over the ventilation in your home, enabling you to keep the hot air out during the hottest parts of the day while still being able to take advantage of the cool changes in the evening.

How to get the most from this product

Draught proofing should always be done in conjunction with other efficiency measures like insulation and repairing or replacing windows. A thorough draught proofing product will address a range of problem areas including under and around external doors, ill fitting window sashes, wall air vents and extractor fans. It is usually beneficial to also treat internal doors to utility areas such as bathrooms, laundry and toilets. Down-light fittings are not only a common source of draughts; they also reduce the effectiveness of your ceiling insulation.
