When we recommend this product

Locally made in Daylesford by Ned Kelly Heaters, the Bushranger is available in two sizes:

The Large Bushranger is 100% Australian made. Its firebox is partially surrounded by an insulated shroud creating a hot air chamber allowing for natural convection eliminating the need for a fan. The large loading front door, fingertip control setting, air wash glass cleaning, rear heat shield and removable baffle plate make it easy to operate. The 6mm firebox has a 10 year warranty. With an emission factor of 2.3 g/kg it is capable of heating 30 squares with a maximum heating average of 15.1 kW.

The Small Bushranger works in the same way as its larger counterpart. With an emission factor of 1.6g/kg, it is capable of heating 16 squares with a maximum heat average of 12.3 kW. Both models can be fitted with a three-speed fan.

Wood heaters provide a practical alternative for people who don't have access to town gas. Modern wood heater design ensures that wood heaters meet the strict Australian standards for environmental emissions AS-4013-1999. Airtight slow burn heaters are the most efficient type of wood heater on the market with electrical fans aiding the heat distribution. We recommend that all wood is sourced from a sustainable managed forest to ensure the maximum environmental benefits from your heater.

How to get the most from this product

Before buying a wood heater you must decide what you want from the heater.

• How big an area or how many rooms do you want to heat

• How long do you want to heat the rooms for

• Will you use other types of heating

• Where will the wood come from and how much will it cost

When purchasing your heater bring along your floor plan so the retailer can size a unit accurately and suggest the best position for its installation. Ceiling fans on winter cycle can aid movement of the hot air back down to floor level. If you want to heat more than one room consider installing a heat shifter system to transfer the heat form one room to another (see heater shifter fact sheet). Wood heaters should only be installed by a licensed person in plumbing.
